A Rebel Extremist in Your Collection? A Saw Gerrera Black Series Deluxe Figure Review
For Star Wars collectors who appreciate the grittier, morally complex corners of the galaxy, the Saw Gerrera Black Series deluxe figure is a must-have. This isn’t your typical clean-cut hero; this is a freedom fighter forged in the crucible of war, and Hasbro has captured that intensity perfectly. This Saw Gerrera Black Series deluxe figure review will break down the details of this incredible collectible, from its intricate design to its place in the lore of the Rebellion.
The Partisan Leader: Saw Gerrera’s Backstory
First appearing in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Saw Gerrera was a young patriot from the planet Onderon. Alongside his sister, Steela, he fought to liberate his homeworld from the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During this time, he and his rebels were mentored in the art of war by none other than Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Captain Rex. This early taste of victory against a galactic superpower set Saw on a path from which he would never waver.
Years later, as the Galactic Empire tightened its grip, Gerrera’s methods became more extreme. His Partisans, a militant rebel cell, operated outside the authority of the formal Rebel Alliance, employing tactics that many, including Mon Mothma, considered terrorism. Broken by loss and sustained by a cybernetic suit, Saw became a paranoid and ruthless leader, believing that victory against the Empire was worth any cost. His story, as seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Andor, is a tragic tale of a hero who became a grim reflection of the tyranny he fought against.
